I am a mother of a 5 year boy who keeps me on my toes!!! I am an older mom (38.5 at the time of my son's birth in September 2010) and I have done many things prior to getting 100% into fitness. I was in the medical field for many years, starting out on the billing side of things for about 8 years. After that I decided I wanted to be more on the front lines and went to EMT (Emergency Technician School) and absolutely loved it. I became an EMT/Firefighter (volunteer) back in 2003 through 2006, was an absolute highlight of my career and life. Met my husband while a firefighter and had some amazing experiences with him. I decided to go to work in a clinic while my husband pursued his fire career, it is a long process to become a full time career firefighter. I spent five years in clinics and while there was trying to conceive.
I unfortunately had some fertility issues, diagnosed after two

miscarriages as having a rare uterine abnormality called Unicornuate Uterus. Basically my uterus is less than half the size of a normal healthy one. It took three years but I was finally able to conceive and carry my son to 39 weeks. It was a high risk pregnancy and a 40 plus hour delivery that ended in an emergency c-section. We were both fine and came home 7 days later. I went back to work when Kayden was 3 months old. While pregnant I gained 50 pounds (weighed 180 at delivery) and when I went back to work I walked 4 miles a day 5 days a week. I was able to loose about half of what I gained!!! I decided to quit my job when Kayden was 5 months old. I was just being a mom, doing stay at home mom stuff.....eating and just hanging out with my son. Fast forward to February 2013 and I was at 150 pounds and really wasn't paying much attention. That was until I had to actually get out of my sweats pants and sweat shirt to go to a party!!!!! I was so disappointed in myself for letting myself go like that, but I think as mom's we do that. I saw a few pictures from that night and decided that it was time to take care of myself. I started walking and then eventually was running 5 - 8 miles a day and feeling good. I got to about 142 and just plateaued and knew I had to step it up. I had Insanity on a shelf collecting dust so I set a date, July 1, 2013, and jumped right in!!! I completed all 63 days and got down to 130 and I felt so amazing the entire 2 months because I knew I was doing it for me and to be healthy for my son!
I became a Beachbody Coach about 30 days into Insanity and I have never regretted it for a second. I have completed additional programs (T25, 21 Day Fix (10 rounds), PiYo, December 2014 - February 2015, Insanity Max:30, and over the summer of 2015 - 21 Day Fix Extreme and CIZE). I continue to drink Shakeology daily and have done so since August 2013. Beachbody Coaching has honestly saved my life on so many levels and there is no better feeling then to help others better themselves and their lives. My son "works out" with me and I feel amazing knowing that he will grow up knowing that fitness and good nutrition are daily activities, something normal, and something he will do and not even think twice about it. There is not one negative thing I can say about this journey and I look forward to helping as many people as I possibly can to enjoy their lives and be happy healthy people!! If I can do it I believe anyone can, it just takes the will to want it and the drive to do it.
What an amazing story. Definitely a joy following you on your journey. Thanks for allowing me. maskyn67
